Local Interests/Attractions

Outdoor pursuits, adventure activities and the exciting history of the Welsh border are all on our doorstep. Some also enjoy the literary attractions of two nearby booktowns - most famously at Hay on Wye, and now the recently developed booktown at Blaenavon, recently declared a World Heritage Site.

The Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons, Llangorse Lake, the River Wye. , the Pwyll y Wrach Nature Reserve, Bronllys Castle, ancient churches of the Wye valley, fortifications of the Rhiangoll Valley and crafts tours are all possibilities for your stay.

There are several licensed adventure activity providers locally who can help you with a full range of activities from pony-trekking and sailing or canoeing to caving, gorge walking, orienteering, mountain biking, kites flying, buggies, escape and evasion events and climbing.

Joe's Lodge is an ideal base for self organized groups planning field schools and workshops or educational visits. There is a local nature reserve at nearby Pwyll y Wrach as well as the resources of the Brecon Beacons National Park, which surrounds us. We are well situated for canoeing on the Wye, wind surfing on Llangorse Lake and even gliding at a local flying centre.

We can advise on tours, walks, local talks, help organize meetings and seminars or trainings. Contact us with your needs and ideas and let us help make it happen.
